Kelantan: Doctors treating PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat have urged the public to cut down visits to ensure he received the best medical treatment and rest. His son, Nik Mohamad Abduh said he hoped people who are not able to see him would not feel offended but wait for him to fully recover. "The doctors have asked that the number of visits be cut down in order to make him comfortable. The breathing aid still cannot be taken off as my father is still weak.

"As a family, we hope that all parties are not offended if they are not given preference (to visit his father). When he is better, you will all be our VIP, God willing," he said in his latest posting on his Facebook. Nik Mohamad Abduh said his father started coughing after getting visits from the public so now visitors are only allowed to view him from outside his room so as to avoid any infection.

Nik Mohamad Abduh also said his father's health was improving since receiving enough rest.

Nik Abdul Aziz, 84, was admitted to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, Kota Baharu on Monday (Jan 19) after his health condition deteriorated during the recent floods. The revered spiritual leader who also suffers from prostate cancer was the fifth Menteri Besar of Kelantan, a post he had held from 1990 to 2013. – Bernama
