Kota Kinabalu: Pakatan NGO Pro BN on Thursday said Doris Jones' claim that she received death threats for propagating the secession of Sabah and Sarawak from the Federation of Malaysia is only a figment of her imagination. Its President, Zulkarnain Mahdar, said her claim is akin to portraying the Malaysian security authorities as murderers.

He believed that Jones was trying to divert the people's attention and create provocation so as to gain sympathy from the people.

"It is part of Jones' strategy because there is a warrant of arrest for her by the Malaysian police. "Her claims of death threats are only wild allegations," he said.

He said Malaysian police have a good track record and, therefore, are trustworthy.

Hence, he said, Jones should surrender to the police so as to help in the investigation.

Malaysian law, he said, upholds the "innocent unless proven guilty" stand and hence Jones has nothing to worry about.

The police, it was reported, had sought the assistance of Interpol to nab Jones who is believed to be in the United Kingdom at the moment.

Zulkarnain said Jones should return to Malaysia and answer to the charges against her. "Let the law determine if what she is fighting for is true," he said.

He said insinuating Malaysia is a mafia country will lead the people to think that the government is bad and can order the police or any security authorities to kill anyone it wanted to be eliminated.

Such insinuation, he said, is not healthy for the people in Malaysia, who largely have faith in the police institution.
