600 people for Sze Yip's 30th anniversary

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah United Sze Yip Association will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on July 4 this year.President of Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, disclosed this at the association's Chinese New Year Celebration 2015 held at the Putera Theatre Ballroom, here, Wednesday.

"The event will also see the inaugural installation ceremony for Malaysia Jiangmen Friendship Association and Malaysia Jiangmen Youth Association. Jiangmen Municipal People's Government officials and Jiangmen folks all over Malaysia will be invited to the event," she said.

Life Honorary President of Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah, Henry Kong, graced the occasion attended by about 600 people at the Putera Theatre Ballroom, here.

According to Wong, Kong has been actively involved in the development of the association, and has never ceased to contribute his energy and money towards ensuring the association's continued growth.

Meanwhile, Wong said this year, it is Sze Yi Association Keningau's turn to host the Sabah United Sze Yip Association's Chinese New Year celebration today (Friday) and Feb 28 (Saturday).

"The event is organised on a rotational basis among Sze Yi associations in Sabah," she added.

On another note, she called on association members to work harder in preparation for the second International Dragon Boat Race on June 13 and 14 this year, and achieve a better result this time around.

Wong commended Youth Leader Chow Chen Cheong and Women Leader Wong Lee Chu for having contributed to the success of the association's team in the inaugural International Dragon Boat Race last year. The team won second place under the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association (USCCA) of Kota Kinabalu category.

Also present at the function were Special Guest Datin Seri Panglima Chen Si Mui who is also the Life Honorary President of Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah, Inanam Assemblyman Dr Roland Chia, President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), Datuk Dr T.C. Goh and Adviser to Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah, Wong Ten An.
