Kota Kinabalu: PAS Sepanggar called for an overhead pedestrian bridge to be constructed in the Sepanggar area, particularly along the busy route near the Universiti Apartment here.Sepanggar PAS Youth Information Chief Harieyadi Karmin said everyday pedestrians risk getting run over by vehicles while crossing the road just to get to their houses.

He cited a recent incident where a 22-year-old pregnant housewife was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Sepanggar, while she was on her way home after alighting from a bus last Monday.

"The concerned elected representatives in Sepanggar should go down to the ground and see how to address the issue instead of keeping themselves busy having their photographs taken during ceremonies," he said.

"We have heard talks that an overhead pedestrian bridge will be constructed but until today we do not see even a single pole being erected for the so-called bridge in the area," he added.

"We hope something would be done to address this matter soon as this concerns lives," he said.

On that note, he advised pedestrians to be cautious while crossing the road and motorists to be reduce their speed while plying the route to avoid any untoward incidents.
