PBS saddened, cancels several activities as mark of respect

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) expressed sadness over the sudden demise of its three Youth exco members, including the deputy chief, in the Saturday night incident in Keningau.Its Secretary-General Datuk Johnny Mositun said several activities in conjunction with the party's anniversary this year had been cancelled, namely a bowling competition on March 3 and a football match between the PBS Youth and PBS Supreme Council teams on March 4."This is a mark of respect for them," he said here, Sunday, adding that the anniversary dinner programme on March 5 would proceed albeit with only light programmes.ADVERTISEMENT PBS President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan paid his last respects to Peter Chin, who was PBS Youth Deputy Chief here, Sunday, while Deputy President Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili would represent the party and go to Pitas today (Monday) to pay last respects to Dolsin Marindang, who was PBS Youth Secretary. Mositun said the death of the three PBS Youth leaders was most unfortunate and a "big loss" to the party and Sabah.ADVERTISEMENT The party also expressed gratitude to PBS Youth Chief Datuk Jake Nointin and other Youth leaders for making the necessary arrangements at the Keningau District Hospital for the deceased. "I wish to extend my condolences to the families as well as to the PBS Youth movement and party leadership. May they rest in peace," said Mositun.
