CM assures continuous support for Sino-KDM
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has assured continuous support to the Sino-Kadazandusunmurut (KDM) community in Sabah. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the Sino-KDM is an important community in Sabah having historically contributed in government, politics, commerce and the overall development of the State.

He said the Sino-KDMs have been around for a long time as a result of intermarriages practised in Sabah a long time ago.

"The Government acknowledges the contribution of the Sino-KDM community to the State's development and will continue to support them," he said during the Sino-KDM Association's Chinese New Year open house hosted by its President Datuk Johnny Goh at his residence in Kampung Pomotodon, Inanam, Sunday.

"The Barisan Nasional Government strives to maintain the unity, peace and harmony in the country, including in Sabah," he said.

Musa said the Government's support of joint celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Kaamatan, Hari Raya, Christmas and Deepavali was testimony to its commitment to uphold race and religious freedom in Sabah.

He therefore urged the Sino-KDM community to continue to work together with the Government to jointly develop Sabah for the betterment of all communities in the State.

"I also wish to commend Datuk Johhny Goh for his role in the association. Even though he is no longer an assemblyman, his spirit as a leader is still strong," he said.

Meanwhile, Goh commended the leadership of Musa which has brought about much development to the State.

"When we wanted to organise this open house, the Chief Minister said he wanted the occasion to be informal with the rakyat. This shows the Chief Minister is a leader of the people and with the people," he said.

He said Musa has proven to be a capable leader having taken BN through a resounding victory in the last three general elections.

"Musa has proven in his strength in administrating the State, including the State's finances, which has been well managed under his tenure," he said.

He said the Chief Minister had also been generous to the Sino-KDM Association reflected by the RM100,000 contribution given during the association's launching five years ago.

Earlier, Musa also announced another RM100,000 to the Sino-KDM Association and RM200,000 to upgrade the approximately one-kilometre Kolom Pison Pomotodon-Sinulihan road.

State Education Director Datuk Jame Alip also announced RM100,000 for the repair and maintenance of SK Pomotodon, Inanam.

Among those on hand were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Salleh Tun Said Keruak, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Yahya Hussin, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Deputy Speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun and Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Borhan Dolah.
