3,500 in Sabah yet to register for GST: Ahmad

Sandakan: A total of 325, 279 people in the country have registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which will be implemented on April 1.Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Haji Ahmad Maslan, said this is a good development because only about 240,000 had been targeted previously.He said a compound of RM15,000 will be imposed on those who were stubborn and reluctant to register after the grace period expires on Feb 28 and that there will be no further extensions.

Ahmad said, in Sabah, 3,500 more are yet to register and that besides Sabah, there were those in other states who are yet to register for GST.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Ahmad was speaking to reporters after presenting an explanation on GST in the Community Hall, here Friday.Also present were Sabah Umno information chief Datuk Sapawi Haji Ahmad, Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban, Sekong assemblyman Datuk Samsudin Yahya, Vice Chairman of the Kinabatangan Umno Division Pg. Damsah Aziz, Sandakan Umno Secretary Hamdan Dikong, Beluran Umno division chief Datuk James Ratib and Gum-Gum assemblyman, who is also Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris.
