State Health Department Director Dr Christina Rundi said Kota Kinabalu topped with 361 cases followed by 113 in Penampang and 62 cases in Semporna. "We are intensifying efforts to control dengue and mobilising more staff to help out," she said."When one case is reported in different locations, we call it sporadic while the term for dengue outbreak is very strict. For example, if two cases are reported in the same location within a week then it can be called an outbreak," she explained. ADVERTISEMENT She said the term for outbreak is strict because there has to be immediate efforts to control dengue in the location. Last Tuesday, the department reported a more than two-fold increase in dengue cases reported until Feb. 21 with a total of 591 cases compared to 204 for the same period last year. The highest then was also in Kota Kinabalu with a total of 281 cases.
