Eversendai bags RM269.2m contract in Qatar

Kuala Lumpur: Eversendai Corp Bhd, a specialist engineering and construction services provider, has secured a project worth RM269.2 million to construct the Al Wahda Arches and Visitors' Centre in Doha, Qatar. The project, won through its subsidiary company in the country, is set to become one of the most prominent landmarks in Qatar, upon completion. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Eversendai said it was the only pre-qualified company from the Middle East involved in the international bidding of the project, going up against competitors from Korea, Italy and France.

"The Al Wahda Arches and Visitors' Centre is a long-awaited project in Qatar and our success in winning the contract reasserts Eversendai's strength in the Middle East, and Qatar in particular," said Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director Tan Sri A K Nathan. The Al Wahda Arches are the main segments of the Artscape works, which are part of the Lusail Expressway project, consisting of two arches with a visitors' centre suspended beneath it. The bigger arch will have a length of 146.52 metres and a maximum height of 98.79 metres, while the smaller arch will span across 139.84 metres in length with a maximum height of 77.56 metres. The suspended visitors' centre will measure approximately 85 metres in length and 21 metres in height.

The scope of work being undertaken by Eversendai includes connection design, steel material supply, fabrication and erection of the steel arches, installation of the cable net and hangars. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
