Kota Kinabalu: The 5th edition of the Sabah Senior Amateur Open is set to take place for the third straight year at the Borneo Golf Resort in Bongawan (BGR) from March 21-22. The annual event is organised by the Sabah Golf Association (SGA) and its President Datuk George Bandusena in a press conference held on Monday said it is now open for registration for anyone aged 55 and above (45 and above for ladies) with a valid USGA handicap.

He said they are expecting a huge turnout after the overwhelming response last year where some had to be turned away with only 118 participants.

"As more are expected to turn up, this time we have targeted 128 participants with many from the Philippines, Sarawak, Brunei, Singapore, Peninsula Malaysia as well as our local Sabahans.

"Last year's Men and Ladies champion Ng Loon Fah and Rokia Daud have agreed to defend their titles and also in the list are former champions such as Peter Wong, Yong Yau Phin and Jesus Arapoc," he added.

He called on all interested parties to sign up as soon as possible and the closing date is on March 13 at 5pm.

Those needing further information may contact SGA at 088-318133 or manager at 019-8076236/014-3535136 or BGR at 087-861888.

Also present at the press conference were BGR President Datuk C.K.Tan and SGA Deputy President Martin Chin.
