Futsal carnival in April

Kota Kinabalu: This year's Sabah Youth Council (MBS) President's Cup Futsal Carnival will be held at Juara Sport Village in Putatan on April 4-5.Organising chairman Mazlan Manan said in the press conference on Monday that the tournament is open to only 100 teams with Malaysian citizens age 15-40.

"Each player will only be allowed to play in one team throughout the competition and it will be played in a 'double knock-out' system.

He added that the men's champions will receive RM3,000 cash, challenge trophy plus medals, jerseys and certificate with the second to fourth each receive RM1,000, RM500 and RM300 while the women's champions will take home RM2,000 plus challenge trophy, medals, jerseys and certificate with RM800, RM400, RM300 going to the second to fourth winners.

Meanwhile, newly elected President Nourman Ag. Zaini said the main purpose of the competition is to select players for the National Youth Championship to be held later in the year.

"We won the women's title last year and hopefully we can repeat our feats and at the same time to uncover raw talents.'

Closing date for the competition is on March 27 at 4pm and the draw will be held on April 3, 7.30pm at the Arena Belia, MBS.
