Jhonie, Bonaventure tipped to win

Kota Kinabalu: Rising duathletes Bonaventure A. George from Team PSZ and Jhonie Ngongoloy from Team HHCS are tipped to race neck and neck in the Men's Open category in the Specialized Duathlon to be held this weekend in UMS. The two multi-sports specialists, from Kota Kinabalu, will be challenged by 134 other athletes including last year's winner Mohammad Noorisman Ismail from Brunei. Meanwhile, in the women's category, defending champion Amelia Monica Uhen will be challenged by veteran Kona Liau for this year's extended distance of 4km run, 40km bike and 8km event. She will be joined by 18 other athletes including outstation athletes from Labuan, Tawau and Sandakan. ADVERTISEMENT The implacable combination of Nickolas Minol and Fabian Daimon in the men's relay category will send other challengers to a hard race. Among other notable pairs are Mastani Yusof and Mohammad Nooremy from Brunei, locals Henry Lee and Mohd. Suhaidzan Ryim as well as the DBKK pair of Roslan Saaban and Guianus Salagan.A total of 350 participants are confirmed for the event this weekend, with some flying in from Kuching and Kuala Lumpur. A strong team of 7 Bruneians will compete and send a strong message to the field.
