Kota Kinabalu: New breast cancer patients were urged to be optimistic and refrain from brooding over their fate.Making the call, President of Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (KPR), Hjh Natrah Datuk Arif said it does not help being depressed.

"Look on the bright side of things as life has to go on while we undergo the necessary treatment. For me, I refuse to think too much about the illness. It does not pay to be downhearted and moody.

"I am happy to see that new patients have made an effort to come today," she said when welcoming members at KPR's recent Chinese New Year celebration held at Wisma Wanita, here.

Natrah also outlined the calendar of events for the current year, calling on members to support the planned activities.

"Plans are afoot to celebrate Mother's Day in May this year," he said.

On hand to entertain the members and guests were a lion dance troupe from Persatuan Tarian-Tarian Naga & Singa Lee Kiong.

Also present were KPR Immediate Past President, Lucilla Pang and Technical Advisers Dr Law Ngo Chiew and Dr Darren Teoh.
