Beluran: Residents of Kampung Air here are in a quandary over the impending takeover by a private developer of the land they had been living on since 1970.Village Development and Security Committee Chairman Andarman Kahar said the 1,543 residents received a notice from the developer on Feb 12 to vacate the land by April 30."The villagers are at a loss because they had stayed on the land since 1970. They were not aware that an individual had applied and obtained approval for ownership of the land in 1986," he said, Wednesday.ADVERTISEMENT Andarman said occupants of the 242 houses in the village located not far from Beluran town were mostly fishermen. He said Beluran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and Labuk Assemblyman Datuk Michael Asang had indicated that they would help to find a solution to the issue.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
