Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brahim's Airline Catering (BAC) to provide a better platform for its students to gain working experience in the food service industry. Its Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Mohd Harun Abdullah said UMS had forged smart partnerships with various industries to improve its research and academic aspects such as like this MoU.

"BAC is a very suitable company for our students to join as it would give them the much needed exposure and experience in the real working world in the industry."

He said the university had in fact been collaborating with BAC since 2013 where about six to eight students would join a programme of six months for their industrial training.

"I hope that through this partnership more academic programmes as well as research and human capital development would be carried out.

"I also hope from this MoU, there would be products developed from this merger that would be featured in the menus of flights."

Meanwhile, BAC Chief Executive Officer Ainul Hasnizam Abu Hassan said BAC had already trained about 20 students from UMS since 2013 within a framework of programmes that were specially prepared.

"We first put the students in teams before they go through a variety of modules in rotation.

Furthermore, the collaboration between the two organisations also includes sharing data and information at the end of the programme which is an added value from this smart partnership."

Ainul hoped through this MoU, set for five years, more activities would be done and that BAC would be consistently ready to give its full support to UMS.
