Sabah leads in Umno membership

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Umno will not be complacent although now recognised as having the most party members anywhere in the nation – 536,232 to be exact.Its Liasion Chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman (pic) said the party's membership was as of Dec. 31, 2014, with an increase of 13,713 new registered members compared to 522,519 in 2013."Even the number of branches in Sabah has jumped from 5,504 to 5,540 due to the increase in new members in Sabah, as a result of the hard work, commitment and dedication of the divisions and the respective Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings making this a reality.ADVERTISEMENT "In light of this, I am calling on them to continue working as a team as well as with the Barisan Nasional component parties and their wings in a camaraderie spirit to strengthen the party and coalition," Musa, who is also Chief Minister, told a press conference after chairing a party meeting at the Umno Building, Thursday. He also called on all divisions to ensure their branches conduct their respective annual meetings beginning March 13 up to May 2."The divisions need to make sure that their branches organise the meetings in a peaceful manner and systematic in accordance with the party Constitution, existing procedures and regulations."By doing so, they could strengthen the divisions and assisted by the wings – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – that also play vital roles in recruiting, and registering new members among the adults and young," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

To a question, Musa said each division will be sending 100 members to undergo leadership and political training to be managed by the Sabah Umno Training Bureau under its Chief Datuk Masidi Manjun.ADVERTISEMENT For a start, Umno Kudat and Umno Kota Belud will be sending 100 members each to take part in the training, soon.
