Chandra said the men were brought in for questioning on Feb 24 and Feb 27 at Taman Bukit Sepanggar, Kg Lokub and Taman Sepanggar between midnight and noon.

"Their modus operandi would be to enter the premises by prying open the front door," he said, adding that they are also believed to be connected to four house break-in cases reported in Taman Bukit Sepanggar, Taman Seri Maju, University Condo Apartment and University Apartment last year.

The third group comprising a 37-year-old Pakistani who worked as a mechanic, a 31-year-old Pakistani who worked as a businessman and a 28-year-old local Brunei man who worked as an assistant mechanic were caught red-handed after they broke into a church in Taman Millennium at about 2am on Feb 23.

"Upon further inspection, two more men who were busy searching for items inside the premises were found," he said, adding that all three tested positive for drugs.

"The vehicle used in their crime activity belonged to a customer who sent his car for repair at the mechanic's workshop and we believe they steal so that they can buy drugs," he said, adding that police are investigating if the group is also involved in other house break-in cases.
