Kota Kinabalu: A midbrain activation programme run by a bumiputera company will be adopted as a pilot project to overcome social ills among youths including school children.Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad said her Ministry will work together with the State Education Department and the company to jointly organise the programme. She said the programme would enhance children's learning efficiency, focus, and self-confidence to mould them to be better persons as well as future leaders.ADVERTISEMENT "I was made to understand that the midbrain (pineal gland) activation which will stimulate between the left and right brain is fairly a new method in the country that could help unlock the brain's capabilities. "I was briefed that the technique will train the children to focus better and enable them to do things like reading, counting, drawing and colouring without using their sight…which is amazing and fantastic as it could lead them to engage in positive tasks rather than be exposed or indulge in unhealthy activities," she said.Jainab said this at the Family Day of the Sabah Alpha Genius Centre at the Public Recreational Park of Likas Bay here, recently. She said specific methods in the programme would also improve the attention span, critical thinking skills and creativity of the persons including students as well as increase awareness on protecting the brain.ADVERTISEMENT "For a start, my Ministry together with the State Education Department will identify needy students and those having low academic performances so as to see the development and effect of the technique on them."We will start this as a pilot project to monitor and see the effectiveness and results," she said.
