Kota Kinabalu: The three-metre wounded dolphin, which was found stranded along the rocky shorelines in Kampung Teluk Likas on March 19, is dead. The animal was found weak with bodily injuries and receiving treatment and rehabilitation at a facility belonging to Universiti Malaysia Sabah's (UMS) Borneo Marine Research Institute. News of its death was revealed to the media by the Sabah Wildlife Department Assistant Director Dr Sen Nathan. UMS is expected to issue a statement on the matter today (Friday). Villagers had found the dolphin early March 19, before the Sabah Wildlife Department was alerted to rescue the animal.
