Alor Setar: The Sandakan District Police Headquarters was chosen as the best Responsibility Centre (PTJ) in the Royal Malaysian Police force for 2014.The result was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on March 11, while the trophy was handed by the ministry's representative, Shariffudin Mohd Salleh.

to Sandakan Police Chief ACP Zabidi Md Zain in conjunction with the 208th Police Day, here, Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zabidi said there were 105 PTJs across the country in 2014, and 18 PTJs, including Sandakan, received four-star recognition.

He said PTJ was introduced by the ministry under a system that had been improved over the Financial Management Performance Evaluation System to identify the level of compliance with financial procedures enforced through its own audit on management control, budget, receipts, expenditure, management of trust or deposit groups, as well as store and asset control.

He said it was the second award for the Sandakan police after coming in second for the Balai League Table's (BLT) B category last year.

He said BLT was one of the initiatives under the National Key Result Areas in providing services to the community, particularly crime prevention activities and reducing crime rate.

According to him, BLT will select the best police station in terms of prevention activities and community policing.

During the ceremony, Zabidi also presented the Sabah Police Commissioner's certificate of appreciation to four policemen and two civilians, while 54 people, including eight journalists received certificates of appreciation from the Sandakan District Police Chief.
