Darts players converge for Sabah Open

Kota Kinabalu: Dart players from Brunei, the Philippines and Singapore, among others, are taking part in the 10th International Sabah Open Dart Tournament 2015 at the community hall here from Mar 27-29.With the bulk of players comprising Malaysians, the annual tournament is still an event worth waiting for.

There are two main categories, Team Event and Singles.

In the Team event, the top prize is RM7,000 while second, RM3,000 and third, RM1,200.

And if that is not enough, there is the Second Chance Team event that offers RM1,000 as the main prize while RM500 for second place and RM250, third place.

Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir, who officiated at the opening on Friday, said he is happy to note the participation of all levels of the society as well as from overseas.

He said the tournament not only inculcate friendship among the participants but at the same time promote tourism.

In addition to the two events, there is also the Singles category for Men, Ladies and Under-17 Junior.

The Singles event will be held on Mar 29 while the Team, Mar 27-28.

In the Team event, the format is Foursome with three singles and two doubles.

Abidin said the tournament, as usual, is held in conjunction with City Hall's anniversary.

To this end, he urged the participants to display high sportsmanship and tolerance.

"To the youths, I hope you will always maintain high discipline," he said.
