Muhd Afif, Soot Yuet are SGCC Amateur Open champs

Kota Kinabalu: Muhd Afif Mohd Razif and Tham Soot Yuet were crowned 27th SGCC Amateur Open men and women titles at the Sabah Golf and Country Club on Sunday.20-year-old Afif from University Utara Malaysia (UUM) continued what he left off on Saturday as he shot two-over 74 with a three-day total of 224 to take the men open title, one shot ahead of Alex Tiong and Suzairi Iqmah.Sarawakian Alex who had the day's best of one-over 73 took the second spot on count back over Suzairi.

Fourth and fifth places went to Korean Park Sang Ho (226) and Safarrudin Abidin (227).Defending champion Jordan Mobijohn who was in joint second place at the start of the final carded a four-over 76 in his round to end up in sixth place with 227 while another former champion Albright Chong who led on the first day bounced back from his disastrous second round to play a two-over 74 and finished two shot behind Jordan in seventh place.17-year-old Tham Soot Yuet denied a clean sweep by UUM player when she hold her nerves to defeat Hillferah Tan at the tense fourth play-off hole.Overnight leader Tan failed to keep her momentum and returend with a four-over 76 to finished with a three-day total of 235 while Tham had a one-over 73 to forced a tie at the end of the round.

Tan Chlo Wee (240) from Kuching took the third spot with Nurul Syahirah Nasir (245) in fourth followed by Eliza Mae Kho (252), Rokia Daud (254) and Jacqueline Nickels (256) sixth.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
