Trio selected for SEA Games squad

Kota Kinabalu: Rayzam Shah Wan Sofian, Eddie Edward Jr and Fathin Mohd Yusuf made it to the National squad for the Singapore SEA Games in June, said Sabah Athletics Association President Fred Gabriel on Sunday.He said he was very pleased with the achievement by the three Sabahans and hoped the inclusion of the trio will spur other up and coming juniors in the State to train even harder to make the national team.

He said Rayzam who had earlier qualified for the 110 hurdle with his time of 13.98 set in Australia two weeks ago, was also named in the men 4 x 100m relay team together with Eddie after they won gold together with Tonga Edmund and Shafie Irwan in the just concluded Malaysia Open in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

"Eddie had earlier, on day one also ran 10.77s in the 100m while Fathin finished fifth in the women 100m sprint and she was also named in the women 4 x 100m relay squad."

He added that team apart from achieving their targeted two gold through Rayzam in the 110m hurdle and the men 4 x 100m relay, y also took home bronze in the men 4 x 400m relay with the quartet of Mohd Firdaus Kimleh, Raymond Yew, Ancois Aron and Tonga Edmund as well as Valerie Zinugin in the triple jump with 11.34m.
