Keningau: PKR Council of Elder Deputy Chairman Robert Linggi urged the Government to take serious action against illegal immigrants in Keningau as they are already outnumbering locals in the interior."The Pakistanis here, many of them already have genuine MyKad. They come on visit passes but they can open shops and bring their products from their country and sell in the villages.

"For example, a RM15 jeans in Pasar Malam is sold for RM60 by these Pakistanis to villagers and paid by instalments. They also sell gold necklaces, rings, furniture at three times the original prices.

"The relevant Ministry must check their prices also not just the prices in shops," he said.

Linggi alleged that some who could not afford to service their loans ended up allowing their daughters to be married to the Pakistanis.

"Many Pakistanis have MyKad and gained bumiputera status in Sabah. How does the government protect the rights of Sabahans especially the KDM?" he asked.

On another issue, Linggi said the government must change its stance on native customary rights (NCR) lands and solve the problems that have been longstanding since the 60s and 70s.

"In the interior especially in Tenom, Nabawan and Keningau, many villages are still included in forest reserves and this problem is still not solved," he said.
