Tenom finish in second spot

Tenom: Tenom bagged the second spot in the 47th Track and Field Rural inter-school meet (MSS) in Ranau that ended on Saturday. Divisional Umno Youth Chief Jamawi Jaafar who was proud of the district's success has credited the success to the commitment of the officials and the athletes. He said believed his slogan "Jangan Alang-Alang Main Sailang" has boosted the spirits of the athletes to do well. ADVERTISEMENT The district contingent took home 21 gold, 28 silver and 21 bronze medals. "The success should be able to ignite the attitude of doing well and being ready in the forthcoming meets," he said during a special lunch to welcome the contingent at the Tenom District Office, here. Also present at the event were Tenom District Education Officer Azlan Dimun, teachers and athletes who represented the district at the rural inter-school meet. He said he had also urged the government to begin working on the upgrades of the Tenom Sports Complex which are now badly damaged. With the complex in working condition, he said those in the district could conduct their activities in a safe and suitable environment.
