Kuala Lumpur: The Federal government has no plan to set up a special Ministry to oversee the affairs of non-Muslim Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak because agencies coordinating the implementation of development programmes in the two states are already in place.Replying to Putatan MP Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh in Parliament on Monday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said the Special Programme for the Bumiputera Minority (PKGBM) Sabah and Sarawak was coordinated by the State Economic Planning Unit and Delivery Management Office in Sabah and Sarawak, respectively.

At the Federal level, the Implementing and Coordinating Unit in the Prime Minister's Department was responsible in overseeing the implementation of projects under the programme.

Besides that projects under the programmes were being reported directly to two committees namely the Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera Technical Committee co-chaired by Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili and Datuk Douglas Unggah Embah as well as the Cabinet Committee on Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera chaired by the Prime Minister.

Shahidan said the PKGBM for the non-Muslim Bumiputera in Sabah and Sarawak had been included under the 10th Malaysia Plan with RM20.6 billion allocated to Sabah and RM18.6 billion to Sarawak.
