Nominations open for JCI awards

Kota Kinabalu: Know of any exceptional people – then why not nominate them for the JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA) and JCI Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians Award (TOYM)?Organising Chairman of CYEA, Lim Zhi Hong said the purpose of the CYEA was to foster the entrepreneur spirit among the youth and encourage creativity and innovation."It was programmed and designed to honour and celebrate exceptionally creative young entrepreneurs in Malaysia.ADVERTISEMENT "It also is to promote and support business creativity and new enterprise development among the young people as well as to raise their profile and create interest in JCI among the young entrepreneurs."From now until May 31, the nomination is open through online registration and the judging process would be by an independent panel of judges and would be done in June," he said at a press conference on Friday.He also said from the nominations received, the Top Ten Finalists would be selected by August and would be interviewed then.Following that would be the JCI Grand Award Ceremony in September where three winners would be chosen from the ten.ADVERTISEMENT He also said that one of the three winners will then be chosen to represent Malaysia to be a panel speaker at the Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE).The nomination, he said, is open to all Malaysian aged 18 to 40 who must be an owner or manager who primarily is responsible for a recent or start-up performance of a privately held business. Registration is free.

Meanwhile, TOYM Organising Chairman Teoh Eng Kiat said the TOYM programme served to recognise ten individuals aged 18 to 40 as well who have excelled in their chosen fields and create positive change."By recognising these outstanding young people, JCI Malaysia will honour them through this award and provide them with a platform for each honouree to present their personal accomplishments."With that, I would like to urge any young Malaysian to take the opportunity and challenge to participate in the 2015 JCI TOYM's nomination."We are open to any individuals with exceptional achievement and significant contribution to the community in various fields such as Humanitarian and Voluntary, Business, Political, Academic, Cultural, Environmental, Medical and many more," he said, adding that the registration fee is RM300.The closing date for nomination is also on May 31 while the award ceremony would be held on Aug 22 in Penang.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
