Kota Kinabalu: Malaysian Women football team went down 0-5 to Thailand in a friendly at the on Saturday evening. They were 2-0 down with the first team players in the first interval before the reserves took to the pitch in the second half.It was a lesson well-learnt, said head coach Asraaf Fong Abdullah.ADVERTISEMENT "There were positive aspects from the match despite the heavy defeat. "It enabled me to have a clearer picture on the performance of the players and the team's weaknesses against a world class team."He said the team was only formed less than two weeks ago so with the limited time available to train together before the match, it was a fair result."The players showed true grit and played their hearts out against the World's 29th ranked team that also featured their two top players who played in the Japanese and Korean league."ADVERTISEMENT The coach had earlier said the reason for the team bound for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) tournament in May in Laos to choose Thailand for their warm-up trip was because they are in the same group as Vietnam and Myanmar in the AFF competition.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
