Kota Kinabalu: Officials of  FlyMojo Sdn Bhd led by its Managing Director, Datuk Janardhanan Gopala Krishnan, briefed Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman on the airline's plans to establish Kota Kinabalu as a secondary hub to improve connectivity between the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak, as well as other parts of the region.Janardhanan said the airline is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2016. Flymojo would offer an alternative for Chinese tourists to fly directly to Johor. Kota Kinabalu will be the airlines's secondary hub, according to an earlier report.

On March 17, Flymojo Sdn Bhd signed a letter of intent with Bombardier Commercial Aircraft to buy 20 CS100s for US$1.5 bil (RM5.5 bil), with an option for an additional 20 CS100s, at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace show. The event was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Based on the list price of the CS100 a firm order would be valued at US$1.47 bil, and could increase to US$2.94 bil should Fly Mojo exercise all its options.

The CS100 seats up to 125 people.

According Janardhanan Flymojo is expected to take delivery of its first CS100 next year, which will make it the first customer and operator of the CS100 in Southeast Asia. Janardhanan was previously COO of Subang Skypark Sdn Bhd.

In the meantime, the airline will use leased planes as it in talks with Bombardier to lease at least three aircraft.

Fly Mojo Chairman Datuk Seri Alies Anor Abdul is confident that its model will resonate deeply with its passengers and that the use of the technologically advanced C series aircraft will transform the aviation industry in Malaysia and the region.
