Papar: The government will decide whether to review the allowance of the chairmen of Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) and Urban Development Committees (JKDBs). Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Malleh on Thursday said the government is aware that the allowance was low given the duties and role they have to play as communal administrators, which are getting more challenging at present.

Radin said this during the closing of the Management and Administration Course for JKKKs and JKDBs in Pantai Manis, here.

A total of 60 grassroots leaders took part in the three-day course organised by his ministry.

Also present were Sabah Land Development Board Chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail and Papar District Officer Siriman Basir.

He said the government will also continue to hold courses, including updates on modules, for all newly-appointed grassroots leaders in the State so they would be able to execute their duties well.

Radin, who is also the Melalap Assemblyman, urged the grassroots leaders to upgrade themselves and acquire as much knowledge and skills as possible.

"The grassroots leaders need to undergo transformation to improve on their performance in the delivery of services, focusing in quality work and generating a positive impact in the aspect of mind and attitude," he said.

He said they should prepare a monthly roster to facilitate discussions and solving issues before these are presented to the government to take action.
