A 92-hectare site proposed for Gum-Gum township

Semporna: A 92-hectare area has been proposed for the Gum-Gum township, which is currently at the plan preparation stage.State Housing and Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris said the land was divided in several development land use such as housing, commerce, public facilities, service and industry.He said the commercial area comprised shop area, farmers' market and future commercial development proposal while the housing area was divided into high and low-density housing areas.

The industrial site was proposed at the exit junction to the main Telupid-Sandakan Road, he said when met after a discussion on the Gum-Gum township Development Plan chaired by Sandakan Municipal Council Deputy President, Hamsan Awang Supain, here, Thursday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Zakaria, who is also Gum-Gum State Assemblyman, said other proposals in the development plan were the constructions of public facilities such as buildings to house government departments, mini hospital, police station and a Fire and Rescue Department.He said the development of the Gum-Gum township would boost the standard of living of the people in the area and provide businesses and job opportunities.
