China Consulate Office opening today marks vital chapter

Kota Kinabalu: The official opening of the Chinese Consulate Office in Sabah today (Monday) marks an important chapter in the history of both China and Malaysia, especially the development of bilateral relationship in all aspects.Chinese Consul General, Chen Peijie, said it is a testimony to the close relationship between both countries and signifies the upgrading of ties towards becoming strategic partners, in line with the aspirations of both countries."It also reflects the importance of promoting relationship between Sabah and Labuan and the Republic of China in all aspects – education, culture, business and tourism, among others," she said ahead of the official opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China, here, today.ADVERTISEMENT The ceremony would be officiated by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, representing Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The consulate office, according to her, would serve as the bridge to promote all activities, particularly the development of the "Silk Route" to spur economic development for the benefit of all.Chen also reiterated her praise for Sabah's natural beauty and abundance of natural resources. Currently, China is Malaysia's sixth largest trading partner while Malaysia is China's top trading partner in Asean.
