Kuala Lumpur: Former World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei who heads to Dongguan, China for the Sudirman Cup wants to prove that he has not lost any of his touches despite an eight-month absence from competitive badminton.Chong Wei whose world ranking has dropped from first to 45th in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) ranking since his suspension for a doping offence, will spearhead Malaysia's challenge in China from May 10-17."The tournament is only days away but I am itching for action and very excited. The feeling this time around is different since I have not stayed away from competition for such a long time.ADVERTISEMENT "In the past I play about two tournaments a month and the schedule used to be very tight...I also get tired. But this time around the problems are over and I am geared up for the Sudirman Cup without much pressure," he told reporters after a training session at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara, here Monday.Chong Wei who has been given the role of captain for the Sudirman Cup team hopes to lead the team into the quarterfinals but reminded his players to be aware of the dangers posed by India and South Korea.In the competition, Chong Wei and back up squad player Cheam June Wei have been lined up for the men's singles matches, Tee Jing Yi and Lim Yin Fun (women's singles), Tan Wee Kiong/Goh V Shem (Mak Hee Chun) for the men's doubles and Vivian Hoo, Woon Khe Wei (Amelia Anscelly) women's doubles.Mixed doubles pairs Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying and Wong Fai Yin/Chow Mei Kuan complete the team.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
