Ensure quality songs, Murut artistes urged

Tenom: Local Murut artistes and composers have been urged to improve their musical compositions in keeping to their listeners' taste. Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Maleh said the government encouraged all youths to be active in the arts and creative industry to increase their income as well as to strengthen ties between the people in the State.He said this when launching the Program Santai Ikon Maririmbai Murut Edisi Pertama 2015 at the Dewan Terbuka Sedcovest, here.

According to him, the programme that was held for the first time aimed to appreciate and promote Murut artistes in Sabah. The programme, themed "30 Years Ago, Today's Future Asset", showcased several local veteran artistes who had contributed to the development of Murut songs. Radin, who is also Melalap Assemblyman, also proposed that the programme be held annually to motivate Murut artistes in ensuring the quality of their musical compositions. Besides that, there was also a 'live show icon band' featuring local artistes' talents in composing Murut songs in the State.
