RM104.2m facilitation fund approved for 41 bumi firms in Sarawak

Kuching: The Sarawak Facilitation Fund Committee has approved RM104.2 million in funding for 41 Bumiputera companies since last year, said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Naroden Majais.He said the 41 projects had an overall investment value of RM748.5 million."The 41 approved projects including oil and gas, properties, construction, tourism and food processing, have opened up 1,650 job opportunities for the rakyat in the state," he said during the launch of "Garis Mula Insken500: Pre-launch of Intensive Training Programme and Business Guidance" here, Tuesday.ADVERTISEMENT A total of 600 participants attended the programme, organised by the National Entrepreneurship Institute (Insken) and the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development Unit, Chief Minister's Office, which aims to elevate 500 companies to a higher level.Naroden said the various programmes introduced by the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) had achieved encouraging progress."Todate, some 62 companies in Sarawak have been certified as high performing Bumiputera small and medium enterprise (TERAS), while 26 TERAS companies in the state have received approval for TERAS fund totalling RM83.4 million," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Insken Executive Director Norizan Sharif said since the creation of five regional economic corridors, Teraju had approved funds amounting to RM964 million to 254 companies nationwide via projects with a total investment value of RM8.13 billion.ADVERTISEMENT "This success may not be achieved without the support of the Bumiputera entrepreneurs from Sarawak," he said. –Bernama
