Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Junior Rhinos finally won their first away game of the season with a 2-1 victory over Kuala Lumpur at the Stadium Maybank Bangi on Wednesday. It was also their first consecutive win following the 3-1 defeat of Melaka last week.

The match began at 4.45pm saw the team start on the right note with their top scorer Rahman Shah Marajeh opening the scoring as early as in the fourth minute when his shot following a corner kick taken by skipper Umareng Bacok sailed past the Kuala Lumpur goalkeeper.

The second goal came in the 40th minute when a neat one-two by Rahman and fellow striker Ridzuan Raymend finished with the latter putting the ball into the empty net.

Sabah had the overall possession in the match but failed to take advantage of their chances to increase their lead in the second half and the home team only managed the consolation goal against the run of play in the 70th minute.

Team Manager Datuk Juil Nuantim was pleased with the result and hailed the players for their first victory away from home.

"They played well and thoroughly deserved the three points. It was a much improved performance by all the players and I hope they will continue their winning ways in the remaining matches," he said. The team's next match is against KL Felda United on May 13 here at the Likas Stadium.
