54 in the race to shed weight
Kota Kinabalu: Fifty four participants of a six-week weight reduction programme have begun registering results at the end of their second week. The second week of the Jom Kurus Sabah for Team Cruz Fitness Fighters of Likas Zone saw the working class men and women indulging in Thai martial art boxing, Muay Thai. They earlier did aerobics and cardio sessions.Other activities during Week Two comprised fitness tests such as Shuttle Run and Strength for abdomen and the upper body.

Head Coach Cruzeline Faye Alex, however, was cautious of the participants' progress and reminded them that the goal was still some way off.

"Focus on your goal, have discipline in eating and drinking, be more active and participate in more daily training and do the homework as prescribed.

"They are free to do any other workouts as long as they maintain their active lifestyle. Nearly 70pc of the participants have never done any workouts since last year.

"So I want them to challenge themselves in this 6-week fitness journey," she said, Tuesday.

She added safety was her main concern.

"I would like to stress on Safety First in the fitness workouts especially for those who are new in this fitness journey. Do the workouts correctly, techniques-wise. If unsure please consult a certified and qualified fitness trainer, do not depend on social media especially.

"Remember Quality over Quantity and do the workouts properly. Stay focussed and have fun in this journey," she said.

Each weekend would see the participants engaged in various selected tasks. The person who is able to shed the most weight at the end of the six weeks would be given a certificate.

The third week's programme would involve hill hiking at University Malaysia Sabah's Outdoor Development Centre (ODEC).
