National Kaamatan joy in Ranau on June 7

Ranau: The nation's top leaders including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak are expected to gather here early next month for the national level Kamaatan Open House 2015 which the district will be hosting.Shyzwan Emran, spokesperson for the Organising Committee from the Ministry of Tourism Secretariat, said the event would be held at the old Ranau Airport strip on June 7.

He said various activities had been planned for that day from 6.30am.

"Among the activities are exhibitions by the National Visual Art Development Board and Heritage Department, handicraft exposition and Tourism Information Centre. There will also be musical and art performances by popular artistes," he said.

He said the leaders, including Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Nazri Aziz, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun as well as the Huguan Siou, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, are expected to arrive in the evening.

"Other leaders will also be arriving early. Following them are Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman who will lead a procession to welcome the arrival of the Prime Ministers arrival and his wife," he said.

Shyzwan said the Prime Minster and other distinguished guests would first visit the Sabah Traditional Ethnic Houses before launching the event, which will be followed by special Tadau Kaamatan performances.

"We expect 40,000 people to attend the ceremony which will bring cheers and uplift the district," he said, urging the people here and throughout the State to attend the event.

Meanwhile, the National Level Kamaatan Open House 2015 Working Committee Meeting will be held at the Ranau District Office on May 19 at about 9.30am to discuss about the whole celebration.
