Labuan: A new trend of peddling drugs through the internet has emerged and parents are warned to look out for signs of drug dependence in their children.Last Sunday, a mother reported to police that her son was in a state of hallucination after consuming biscuits that looked like cookies.

Police then called at the house of the subject at Sg Bangat, where they tested his urine which was positive for ganja.

The mother handed to the police two containers of the biscuits which were found to contain ganja. The son was brought to the police station and investigated under section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

The first year student of Kolej Yayasan Sabah in the electrical faculty, admitted buying the product through Facebook under the Gerakan Edukasi Ganja Malaysia.

The transaction was communicated through Facebook messenger.

He said he met the seller who went by the name Biskut Raksas, and bought two bottles that were packed like kuih raya. Available in two flavours, chocolate and candy, each cost RM120. The purchases were made by banking in to the accounts of the seller. The products were then sent to him by courier.

The police are now tracing the source of the supply. The modus operandi was already in existence in the US. Mixing the content with synthetic and chemicals had killed many people.

Praising the narcotic police for handling the case in a timely manner, ASP Syed Asrul Sani bin Syed Adnan said the menace, if not checked, would endanger youths.
