Esscom needs land to build  HQ in Lahad Datu: Azis
LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) is seeking assistance from the Sabah Government to provide a plot of land for the construction of its permanent headquarters in Lahad Datu as its current office building is on rental basis.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman (pic) said only then the allocation of the building construction would be provided.

“Once the plot of land (site) is available, we will then try to get the ministry to allocate enough funding to build ESSCom permanent headquarters immediately,” he said when met by reporters, here, Sunday.

Mohd Azis, who is also Sepanggar MP, was present at the opening ceremony of the Ar-Raudhah Mosque, which was officiated by Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

At the event, Juhar and his wife, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni through Yayasan Nur Jauhar contributed RM10,000 to Ar-Raudhah Mosque Chairman Sari Arsad for the use of mosque.

The Ar-Raudhah Mosque in Lahad Datu town, costing RM4 million, was fully completed in 2004 and would be able to accommodate a congregation of about 3000 people. Also present were Assistant Law and Native Affairs Minister Datuk Uda Sulai and Esscom Commander DCP Datuk Hazani Ghazali. - Bernama
