Woman dies in Tuaran tragedy

TUARAN: A 23-year-old woman died while a 25-year-old man sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle was rammed by Nissan Navara along Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, Kampung Bongol, Tamparuli, here, Monday.
District Police Chief DSP Dzulbaharin Ismail said initial investigations showed that the Nissan, driven by a 29-year-old man travelling to Kota Kinabalu from Ranau, entered the opposite lane, causing the four-wheel drive vehicle to crash into the motorcycle.

“When nearing a turn at the scene, the driver was overtaking another vehicle ahead and entered the motorcycle’s lane.
“Due to the driver’s negligence, the collision caused the rider and pillion serious injuries. The latter were rushed to the hospital by members of the public.

“The woman was later pronounced dead at Tuaran Hospital while receiving medical treatment,” he told Daily Express.
Dzulbaharin added that the driver sustained no injuries and police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
