Keningau Council appointments delay queried
KENINGAU: Bingkor Assemblyman Robert Tawik called on the State Government to speed up the appointment of Councillors for the Keningau District Council which has been delayed about three months.

There has not been any new appointment of although the initial proposal was for early January this year.

“The delays have caused some District Council’s by-laws to not be implemented,” he told Daily Express when visiting a fallen tree on a house in Kampung Tuntumulud. Robert also agreed with the statement of Central Parti Warisan Sabah Information Chief, Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin that councillors to be appointed come from professional leaders and these qualified.

“In addition, cooperation and commitment should be in place when executing trust and responsibility in every specific work to assist management to elaborate on various public issues that occur daily, in the  District Council rating area,” he said.

“ The appointments of must be speeded up to make Keningau a town free from rubbish as well as handling various issues of the business community and others,” he said.

Robert also urged the State Government to speed up the appointment of members of the Village Community Development Council (MPKK) which was delayed not only in Keningau but also several, other districts.

He said this should not be postponed because MPKK is representing villagers for basic assistance and facilities provided by the government.

“If the government finds is difficult to find a MPKK chairman who can get 100 per cent support from the villagers, it is better to return the right of democracy to the villagers who choose the leader they like and support.

“ As the new Sabah government, the politics of the past has to be set aside. People who need attention will certainly support the government or governance of the day.”

On the fallen tree that smashed a house , Robert urged that a Poor People’s Housing be built to the victim.
