Overwhelming response to nine-a-side hockey tourney

KOTA KINABALU: Thirty-one teams will be taking part in the Tuan Haji Azhar bin Datuk Matussin Cup nine-a-side hockey tournament organised by Kota Kinabalu Hockey Association (KKHA) at Likas Hockey stadium this weekend (March 16-17).
KKHA president Dedi Saputra Mohd Rasyid (pic) said they are pleased to see the tournament has attracted overwhelming response from teams, clubs and schools.

“We are delighted to see a total of 20 men and 11 women’s teams from Kota Kinabalu area as well as from Labuan, Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu and Beaufort showing their interest in the tournament.
“On behalf of the association, I would like to thank all the teams for their support,” he said.
He said the men teams are drawn into four groups with SSMS A, Sembulan X, SMK Likas, KHL and KK High School in Group A while SSMS B, SCHC A, Bussku HC, SMK Kota Marudu and Field HC are in Group B.
Group C will have SSMS C, SCHC B, KB Hockey, X Tamparuli and Pafa Team while teams in Group D are SSMS D, Weston Tomahowk, KKPF, Chezy HT and Flickers HC.
