Papar Council urged to upgrade pavements
A resident in Lorong 5, Taman Limauan in Kinarut, suggested that the Papar District Council upgrade the existing pavements in their neighbourhood into concrete structure.

“I think everyone here agrees with me on this because not only it prevents grass growing tall to the point that it blocks the view of motorists on oncoming cars.

“It also serves good purpose to pedestrians who are able to walk on this pavement to reach their houses from the main road,” said SUDIRAMAN, the resident, who noticed Lorong 6 also required the same attention. He noticed that the workers tasked to trim the grass in these areas had seldom come to perform their duty in the neighbourhood.   “The grass usually reached more than a waist’s high and this makes the situation dangerous to drivers who are unable to see any oncoming cars. “I witnessed many near misses at the road junction into Lorong 5 and 6, some time ago,” he added. He also said it would be prudent for the government in their expenditure should they concrete these areas as they would save on fuel for the grass cutter machines, contractor’s payment including other miscellaneous payments. “Besides, other housing estates in this district and the city suburbs have been provided with concrete pavements even before the homeowners moved into their respective home,” he added. A Council spokesman, when contacted recently, said the request would be submitted to their superiors for further assessment. “We have no qualms in providing better infrastructure in our rating areas but we can only achieve that when there is sufficient allocation,” he added. He said its personnel would be deployed to the site concerned to get better understanding of the matter later. (OV)
