Anti-smoking awareness at TUDM

TAWAU: An Anti-Smoking Awareness Forum was held by Markas Angakatan Tugas Bersama 2 (ATB 2) and Kapal Diraja Sri Tawau (KDST) in collaboration with Tawau Health Clinic at KD Sri Tawau Hall, here, Friday (pic).
According to ATB 2 Commander Brigadier General Datuk Zarondin Mohd Amin, the programme was aimed to paint a clearer picture on the negative aspects of smoking cigarettes, including the effects on the user and the people surrounding the user.

The programme had achieved positive reviews from the officers and personnel with many of them who are actually into smoking despite the health risks it possess which will certainly affect their performances in the field.
“Smoking is definitely a bad habit as it definitely interfere an individual’s operating level. Those who are heavily reliant on cigarettes tend to spend more money on them too,” said Zarondin.
Aside from spreading awareness, the programme had also offered counselling for army personnel who are interested in breaking the bad habit.

Themed ‘Healthy Lifestyle Reinforces the Strength of ATM in the Esszone’, the programme saw several invited panelists conducting health talks led by Family Health Expert Dr Haryati Hamzah and moderated by Captain Dr Muhamad Azrul Zakaria.

Azrul, who is also the Medical Officer for ATB 2, had revealed that this was the first programme conducted for ATM personnel in Sabah with more similar events planned at other districts in the State.
