Maj-Gen Khiev Sameth of Cambodia is the new AFF president, replacing Sultan Ahmad Shah, who did not seek re-election for health reasons.
Sameth won uncontested following the withdrawal of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah.
Sameth, who is also the vice-president of the Cambodian Football Federation, previously held the AFF deputy president’s post.
Meanwhile, FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam described Hamidin’s election as an honour to FAM and also the country.
