BELURAN:  The Road Check Point (RCP) in Jalan Sapi Nangoh is a good move as 297 illegal immigrants were detained since it started on March 6.

Commander Eastern Command (Esscom), DCP Dato Hazani Ghazali said the objective to establish RCP Jalan Sapi Nangoh was similar to that in Kalabakan-Sapulut.

“The RCP aimed to trace any criminal movement such as transporting illegal immigrants and smuggling contrabands and subsidised items.

“The existence of RCP in Jalan Sapi Nangoh is strategically position as this route connects the West Coast to East Coast.

“Lead by one officer and 31 members of the General Operation Force from Battalion 20 Beluran, the RCP will be enforce 24 hours daily,” he said.

Hazani was speaking to reporters after his working visit to RCP Jalan Sapi Nangoh, Monday.

Moreover, he said, a K-9 unit to trace explosive and drugs substance will also be deployed to assist in the RCP Jalan Sapi Nangoh.

Meanwhile commenting on the creation of illegal routes due to the tightened security along Jalan Sapi Nangoh, Hazani said Esscom had identified all the illegal routes.

“We will send notice to all estates in this area to notify them that  stern action will be given against those who allow unknown vehicles to pass through.

“To monitor these illegal routes, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) will be used by our enforcement members” he said. “We are hoping that estates around this area will give their cooperation for the sake of security, thus reducing criminal activities.”
