PWD to check condition of M’gatal road
Public Works Department (PWD) staff will check on the condition of a road in Manggatal, following a complaint from a motorist that the stretch was damaged and badly needed repair.

A Department spokesman said the agency would have to verify this claim.

“We will have to determine whether the road is under our maintenance before proceeding with further action,” he said.

JINSON said the road was a source of frustration to many drivers as the surface of the stretch was damaged and uneven.

“The road is filled with potholes and sections of the stretch had eroded away,” he said.

“Those of us who use the stretch often inevitably wind up damaging the undercarriage of our vehicles.”

He said, whenever it rained, the potholes resembled small wading pools.

Jinson said the state of the road had gradually been deteriorating over the past few months.

“I reported these road woes to City Hall in January but, so far, the condition of the stretch has yet to be improved.

The resident provided Hotline with the location of the stretch, which was initially forwarded to the agency.

A City Hall spokesman confirmed receipt of Jinson’s complaint in January, saying that an inspection was made in that same month.

“Our personnel confirmed that the road was damaged and required immediate attention,” he said.

“However, we are helpless to intervene as the stretch is not listed in our road register.”

He said the agency made the Department aware of these observations in March.
