RM1,000 for athletes who win golds
NABAWAN: Pensiangan Branch head of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Raymond Ahuar will give RM1,000 incentive for Pensiangan MSSD contingent athletes who win golds at the Sabah MSS Sports Championship held in Kudat this month.

Raymond also said that if Pensiangan was ranked first to fifth in the tournament, all management and coaches including their wives and children would be given a vacation at any holiday site under Sabah Parks.

“This incentive is an encouragement for the athletes to succeed at the State-level championships,” he said in his speech at the presentation of the contingent flag here, Wednesday.

Raymond handed over the flag and a contribution of RM5,000 to the Contingent Head and District Education Officer, Saibeh Abdul Sani.

He said the incentives were in addition to the incentives offered and announced by Saibeh.

“I am more focused on gold medal count because it will be counted as the contingent’s determination of the 24 districts of the District Education Office competing in this tournament.

“I am confident that this incentive will improve the chances of Pensiangan MSSD finishing among the top ten teams such as the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targeted by the Nabawan District Education Office.

Raymond who is also the Political Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Christina Liew hopes that all athletes will compete with a high spirit of sports and self-discipline.

“Compete with the spirit of sportsmanship and high discipline in order to maintain the good name of Pensiangan District Education office, school, the athletes and their family as well as to honour Pensiangan’s good name,” he added.

A total of 127 athletes including Pensiangan MSSD contingent officers will leave on March 21 and camp in Kudat until March 28.

Meanwhile, the head of the contingent, Saibeh said that the athletes were ready to face the challenge. He said intensive training has been carried out just after the recent MSSD Championship held in this district and it is hoped that the athletes will lift Nabawan’s name during the tournament.

“However, we also admit that other districts have also dreamed of being the tournament champions but we will do our utmost to place at least in the top 10,” he said.
