Ranau Kaamatan on May 4

RANAU: The 2019 District Level Kaamatan Celebration committee has decided to kick off the event here on May 4 at the Dewan Masyarakat Ranau, with the Unduk Ngadau competition as one of the highlights.

“Among others are the Golf Tournament at the Ranau Golf Club and the Sonsoluyon Paragliding at the Ranau Paragliding base at the Ranau Sports Complex.

“That event, along with the Gong Beating and Ethnic Dance competition, as well as the Folk Sport will be held on a date yet to be determined. Other events include the popular Sugandoi Kaamatan, the 4X4 Kaamatan Challenge, Exhibition and Selling of Local Crafts, Agriculture Exhibition and Competition, Blood donation Campaign, Traditional Dish Competition, Photography Competition, Cultural Performance and ‘Magavau or Monoluut’ Performance.

“The ‘Unduk Ngadau’ competition will feature over 20 beauties from across Ranau,” said Assistant District Officer (Admin) Yuesri Ismail Yusof.

Yuesri said the celebration would be attended by distinguished guests such as Ranau MP, Jonathan Yasin, Paginatan Assemblyman Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Ranau District Officer, head of departments, and other local leaders.

 “Adding to the reputation of the Ranau district being a major tourism destination, we are also expecting to receive many foreign tourists,” said Yuesri.
